Tool 9 - Incorporating Classroom Based Devices as Tools for Learning

I feel that technology is something that is in everything in today's world. As an educator, it is very important for us to incorporate technology into our objectives and classrooms.
Accountability is extremely important in any workstation. Students need to be learning and accountability is the way to make sure that this learning is taking place.
Looking through the different websites, I really liked I liked Tutpup because I think it would be a great workstation for my students. Students can go on and "race" other students in math and spelling. This would be a great way to review spelling and math facts.
Another website I liked was This website has an endless selection of educational games. This would be a great way to incorporate fun into learning. My students would be asked to go to a certain game each day. For the workstation, I would expect for them to complete that game.
The way I make my students accountable during workstations is through the use of a workstation journal. During each workstation, the students need to write about what they are learning in the workstation. \

An few apps I like for the Ipod Touches are: abc PocketPhonics Lite: letter sounds & writing + first words, Grammar Jammers, 1st grade: Math Splash, and Deep Sea Duel

Tool 8: Taking a Look at the Tools...Learning about Classroom Devices

Currently, I already have iPod Touches and Netbooks in my classroom. My students LOVE using the different technology that is accessible to them. The students that I teach are so involved in technology is their lives outside of school, so to be able to have this technology in school is a really cool thing for them.
In my classroom, I use my iPod Touches for workstations. They have apps and games that go along with our curriculum. The kids are able to use them during workstation times.
The netbooks are also used during workstation times. I have links set under favorites that they can go to and explore through activities.
Each and every day, technology plays a fun role in my classroom for my students.

Tool 7 - Reaching Outside Your Classroom: Online Digital Projects

Geography has always been a subject that interests me. During college, I went on a geography trip to Eastern Europe. There, I was able to see what life was like in other countries.
In my classroom, I would love to incorporate the idea that even though we live in different countries, we are very similar. I can do this by linking up with a classroom in another country through global school net . org

This is a site that has web-based online projects for classrooms around the world. In my classroom, beginning next year, I would love to incorporate a web based project into one of my units. During our geography unit would be the best place to incorporate globalschoolnet. I am really looking forward to using this in my class next year!
